This is an original 301 "Chippendale" shade. It was designed specifically for the model-6 table lamp. It has been reproduced, and some of the reproductions are quite good in their resemblance. The original shades were made in a satin white paint finish as this one shows, or in a white enamel paint over clear glass. The white enamel paint has more of a shine and is not dull. The difference in the originals compared to the reproductions is mostly in the finish, or in the glass used to make the shade. The reproductions have been made in etched glass, a satin white opal, or cased clear glass over white opal. The etched shades are easily identified from their "frosted" look which is much lighter in color than the original. The satin white or cased clear over opal, take closer examination, but are still readily identified by those familiar with the original shades.
